Just a few notes..
1. Please do not post links to other pages here
2. Be cool…cmon…we had to disapprove some comments with
foul lang and other negative stuff….let’s keep this
a cool place to share advice
A pitcher’s main source of velocity is with his core strength.
Much of his power is created through good hip rotation and delayed shoulder rotation.
A pitcher can create velocity through proper mechanics.
This involves good balance, good shoulder and hip rotation, keeping the head balanced, etc.
One of the most important things to remember is that the velocity should not come from arm strength, but with coordination of the whole body.
There should be no weak links.
Throw hard, always.
Running everyday and doing swings with heavy bats so you develop good wrists and forearms..A long stride (as long as you can go while maintaining good balance) Strong legs to push off the rubber..good core to rotate your hips stronger
I do all this and I do about 82-83 topping at 85

Thanks for the blog!!!
Create velocity? Join 90MPH today! The combination of working out, flexibility and mechanics are essential. The ability to use the entire body is too rare amongs young pitchers coming up. They tend to think they can throw a wicked curve early and forget the basics of aggressive and consistent mechanics. I look foward to the comments. Thanks.
In order for a pitcher to have great velocity, he must have
explosive power towards the plate.
This means that his body works together to throw the pitch,
and it is not just his arm doing the work.
Pitching requires limber brains, and well-coordinated muscles (not only of the throwing arm, but also of the entire body).
Velocity is a key to pitching.
Pitchers can build their velocity through hard work, involving strengthening their leg, abdominal, shoulder, and arm muscles, etc.
